Daybreak Privacy Policy
Last updated: April 24, 2026
Overview
Daybreak is a local-first alarm scheduling app for iPhone and iPad. By default, Daybreak stores your alarm data on your device and does not operate a developer-hosted backend for accounts, analytics, advertising, or cloud sync.
This policy explains what Daybreak stores, when data may leave your device, and what choices you have.
Information stored on your device
- Alarm group names, alarm times, group colors, and group-level alarm settings
- Per-alarm overrides inside groups, weekly schedule assignments, and day-specific overrides
- Loose alarms, schedule pause ranges, and local onboarding or schedule-refresh state
Daybreak stores this information using Apple system frameworks such as SwiftData and UserDefaults.
Information Daybreak does not collect
- No third-party analytics SDKs
- No advertising SDKs
- No cross-app tracking
- No developer-hosted user accounts
- No developer-hosted cloud backups or cloud sync
When information may leave your device
Daybreak is designed to keep your routine data on your device unless you choose to move it.
- When you export a backup, Daybreak creates a backup file and shares or saves it to the destination you choose
- When you import a backup, Daybreak reads the file you select from Files or another document provider
- When you share a group template, Daybreak creates a
.daybreaktemplatefile that you can send or save - When you open a template file in Daybreak, the app reads that file and offers to import it as a new group
If you choose to send a backup or template through another app or service, such as Mail, Messages, Files, or iCloud Drive, that destination's privacy practices apply to the copy you share there.
Apple services
Daybreak relies on Apple frameworks and system services, including AlarmKit, StoreKit, and Files or document-provider access when you import or export files.
Apple may process data necessary to provide those services under Apple's own privacy terms. For example, Apple processes payment information for in-app purchases through StoreKit and the App Store.
Permissions
- Alarm access to schedule alarms through AlarmKit
- File access through Apple system pickers and share sheets when you import or export files
Daybreak does not currently request access to location, contacts, camera, microphone, photos, or health data.
Purchases
Premium purchases are processed by Apple through StoreKit. The publisher does not directly process credit card information in the app.
Premium features currently include Schedule Pauses, Calendar, Backup & Restore, and Group Templates.
Data retention
- Your schedule remains on your device until you edit or delete it
- Deleting the app generally removes app data stored with the app, subject to Apple's backup and restore behavior on the device
- If you export a backup or template, copies may remain wherever you save or send them
Security
Daybreak uses Apple platform storage APIs and local device storage. No app can promise perfect security, but Daybreak is designed to minimize unnecessary data movement by keeping routine data local unless you intentionally export or share it.
Your choices
- Edit or delete alarm groups and alarms inside the app
- Remove day overrides and restore weekly defaults
- Remove schedule pauses
- Decline premium purchases
- Choose not to export or share backup or template files
- Delete the app
Changes to this policy
This policy may be updated as Daybreak changes. If the app's privacy practices change, this policy will be updated to reflect those changes.
